New York City – June 4, 2009 – Nationally-recognized elder care expert Doctor Marion® (www.DoctorMarion.com), author of “Elder Care Made Easier,” was the distinguished recipient of the 2009 Lehman College Alumni Achievement Award for her work and dedication to the field of elder care. President Ricardo R. Fernandez presented the award on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the 41st Lehman College commencement ceremonies in New York City. Doctor Marion is an alumna of the class of 1980, where she received her Master’s in Recreational Therapy.
“I am so humbled to have been chosen as the recipient of this great award, and honored to join a distinguished class of Lehman Alumni Award winners,” said Doctor Marion. “My time at Lehman College truly helped shape not only my work but the person I am today, and I hope that future generations of Lehman graduates will be inspired to get involved in the field of elder care, and leave their mark on the world.”
Since graduating and going on to get her Doctorate in Human and Organizational Development with Specialization in Gerontology, Retirement, & Special Populations, Doctor Marion has made it her life’s mission to help as many people as possible caring for an aging parent or loved one. She has appeared on The Today Show, NBC Nightly News, National Public Radio, The Associated Press, The New York Times, and more to offer her proven advice and support for caregivers everywhere. Doctor Marion also regularly conducts bus tours across the country, meeting with caregivers, seniors, community leaders, and political officials to raise awareness about aging and caregiving in America.
